Much of the morning was devoted to familiarisation exercises. The early afternoon saw the group’s first encounter with Act 2 patron, Emmanuel Jal. The group also began preliminary Image Theatre work. Read more »
The group continued its exploration of Image Theatre techniques, shifting from pair to group work; and Emmanual Jal addressed the issue of cultural leadership. Read more »
Day 3 saw the introduction of voice work and an introduction to Forum Theatre and its links and similarities with Image Theatre. Emmanual Jal discussed ways of using artistic practice for positive social change. Later in the day, participants engaged in group discussions on gender issues. Read more »
The day began with further voice work, this time exploring soundscapes. Preparation was also undertaken for the group’s participation in the one-day conference in Geneva. The Shakthi Group gave a performance of a Forum Play in the evening. Read more »
This was the final day of the workshop before the group transferred to Geneva to attend the conference the following day. A group discussion was held to sum up on the week’s work and to express ideas and intentions towards its continuation. Read more »
